About this property

Welcome to Historic Iron Horse Inn Deadwood

Historic Iron Horse Inn Deadwood is a no-frills hotel located above a casino in a brownstone building that originally served as a post office from 1897 to 1907. The property offers guests free parking and Wi-Fi, with air-conditioned rooms designed to provide a cozy, historic atmosphere rather than modern luxury. While the rooms are clean and comfortable, some reviews note dated furnishings and minor maintenance issues consistent with an older property.

The inn features Stan & Ollie's Pub, a lively live music bar and restaurant that receives strong praise for its friendly staff and enjoyable atmosphere. This onsite dining and entertainment option adds to the experience, especially for those interested in casual evenings without leaving the building. However, there is no breakfast service, fitness center, or airport shuttle, so guests planning longer stays or seeking extensive amenities should plan accordingly.

Located just steps from Deadwood's Historic Main Street and across from the Adams Museum, the property suits visitors interested in exploring local history and Old West attractions. Nearby points of interest include Mount Moriah Cemetery and the vibrant historic downtown area. Guests appreciate the convenient access to these sites, with many highlighting the inn’s friendly, helpful staff and its role as a comfortable base for wandering the town.

This hotel is well suited for travelers who prioritize location, historic character, and straightforward accommodations over luxury. It attracts visitors who value a welcoming atmosphere, proximity to sights and nightlife, and a setting steeped in local heritage. Families and guests looking to enjoy Deadwood’s entertainment offerings will find the combination of hotel, pub, and restaurant convenient and appealing.

Absolutely loved my stay at the Iron Horse Inn! The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The service was top-notch, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming feel. You can tell they really care about their guests here. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in Deadwood!

I honestly have nothing I could possibly complain about. My stay isn’t even over yet (it will be tomorrow) and I have never been happier with a hotel experience. The staff are all so friendly, welcoming, funny, and just great. They make you feel like family. The food is fantastic, and the little bar in the basement is great too. The room is super cute and cozy, and just the right size for two people to stay a weekend. It’s walking distance to everything on Main Street as well. Any future trip to deadwood I take I will be staying here!

We stayed here for 2 nights, it’s an excellent location to enjoy downtown Deadwood. The owners and all employees, even the Pizza place, were so wonderful. Very accommodating for all our needs, helpful suggestions on sites to see and friendly. The bar entertainment was also fun on Saturday night. This choice for our trip made it memorable. Older beds and rooms but very clean. If you want to stay in a historic, western place with original character, I highly recommend the Historic Iron Horse Inn!

A brilliant little hotel in a great location. My wife and I stayed here in September. The staff where very friendly and also ready to help with a great knowledge of Deadwood. The rooms are a great size and kept very clean. And we even won a little on the slot machines.

Stayed here for 3 nights during mid January, so not very busy. A great hotel is a complete understatement to what this place is. The staff are the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. The rooms are a bit dated but they go with the theme perfectly so that’s not a setback at all. The lobby is a perfect hangout spot, they have a pool table, foosball, card tables, free drinks (coke, sprite, root beer, etc.) and right down the stairs is a gaming room, if that’s your thing. I saw people give low reviews based on there not being a safe in the room, but not once did we feel uncomfortable leaving valuables in the room. The restaurant (Three Cousins Pizza) in the lobby is amazing, some of the best food I’ve had here in Deadwood. Absolutely 0 complaints, would stay here every time I come to Deadwood. Not to mention walking distance to anywhere on the Historic Main Street.

Rooms: Clean, anytime the heater kicked off, a loud squeaking sound ensued that wakes you up. Would be something for staff to look into. Remember it’s a Historic Hotel, you will not be staying at the Ritz Carlton. Service: Troy and Chris did a great job checking in on us and making sure we would be able to check in given our late arrival. Location: 1 minute from Main Street Deadwood. Parking on site. Great, safe location.

Very conveniently located with a short walk to historic downtown. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The room was quaint with a very comfortable bed and bedding. Great pizza located within the hotel. Reasonably priced and I would definitely stay here again.

On a roadtrip a month ago, I walked into the Iron Horse Inn and Cheri was so friendly and welcoming that I booked a night. It was the best!! It had the feel of the old west that I was looking for. My room was perfect! It was so clean and had all sorts of amenties. The iron bed was really cool. Loved the room, all of the staff, and the location. Can't wait to go back!!
